Meet Ahmed El Abed

Meet Ahmed El Abed

What happens when technology moves beyond experimentation?

It becomes problem-solving, innovation, and, eventually, the courage to turn an idea into something that creates real impact.

Meet Ahmed El Abed, an AI Engineer, Innovator, and Data Science & Artificial Intelligence graduate from the University of Doha for Science and Technology.

With experience spanning artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, generative AI, cloud technologies, and digital transformation, Ahmed has built his journey around one belief: AI should solve real problems for real people.

PURPOSE

For Ahmed, that purpose became tangible through Be My Sense, an AI-powered accessibility startup he co-founded to help deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals overcome communication barriers.

What began as a university project evolved into an internationally recognized startup, taking Ahmed and his team from the classroom to global stages of innovation.

Rather than seeing university as the finish line, Ahmed used it as a place to experiment, compete, build, and turn ideas into solutions.

IMPACT

Ahmed and the Be My Sense team represented Qatar and UDST at the Huawei ICT Competition Global Final in Shenzhen, China, achieving 2nd place globally in the Innovation Track, after securing 1st place nationally in Qatar and 1st place regionally in Riyadh.

Across his journey, Ahmed has earned 20+ awards and recognitions across AI, innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology. These include winning the Qatar Innovation Hackathon, AI Innovation Program, Startup Grind Doha Pitch Battle, QBIC Lean Startup Program, and Hack48, and placing 3rd in the Arab IoT & AI Challenge Startup Track at GITEX/Expand North Star.

His journey has also taken him beyond Qatar, representing Qatar and UDST across China, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Canada. At the DMZ Voyage Basecamp in Toronto, Be My Sense was recognized among the Top 10 startups.

But perhaps the most meaningful part of the journey is not where the idea ended up, but how far it came.

From a university project, to a prototype, to an award-winning innovation, to a real startup.

LOOKING AHEAD

Today, Ahmed is continuing to build on that foundation at Huawei Qatar, working in the AI and computing infrastructure space.

His experience now spans enterprise AI solutions, cloud technologies, AI infrastructure, GPU/NPU computing, storage, proofs-of-concept, and solution design.

This has expanded his perspective beyond simply developing AI models. He is increasingly focused on understanding the full journey of an AI solution, from identifying a business or public-sector challenge to designing the solution, selecting the right infrastructure, building the architecture, validating it through a proof-of-concept, and ultimately preparing it for deployment and scale.

Looking ahead, Ahmed aims to specialize in end-to-end AI solutions for the public sector, with a long-term goal of contributing to AI sovereignty and helping governments build AI capabilities that create measurable and lasting value.

His journey continues to be guided by a simple message:

“Believe in yourself before anyone else does, and let your mission be louder than the noise around you.”
